DiPCa Project

About

The DiPCA Project  (Predictive Diagnostics of domestic boilers) is based within the support programme for core industrial research and local experimental development projects created by the Generalitat of Catalonia through the ACCIO agency.

The main objective of this project is to implement a predictive diagnostic of the most frequent errors in domestic boilers using a multi-variable sensor, which can be installed on a range of models and manufacturers. The aim of this is to improve the service Naturgy provides its clients, reduce energy expenses, increase reliability, and ultimately prolong the lifespan of the boilers and make them more convenient for the end user.

This diagnostic is based on the knowledge obtained from an exhaustive profiling of how the boilers work under different conditions and at different stages in their lifespan and also validating the sensory technology. This makes it possible to establish correlations and operation patterns associated with the main errors from using data analytic tools.

Objectives and benefits

  • Objectives

The purpose of this project is to install a predictive diagnostic in domestic boilers using a multi-variable sensor to develop a prototype based on logical algorithms, data analytics and statistical models. The main pillars of development are:

Reactive and proactive algorithms, self-learning of normal use and the day-to-day behaviour of the end user.

System function models and Machine Learning.

Desarrollo de un prototipo funcional de detección de errores en calderas.

Application to a wide range of models and brands of boilers.

  • Benefits

Detection of errors in boilers (reactive scenario)

Detection of anomalies in boilers (proactive scenario)
