Naturgy leads the Utilities sector in the FTSE4Good Sustainability Index
- The Index analyses more than 2,000 companies and evaluates 300 environmental, social and corporate governance indicators
- Naturgy climbs to first place in the world in the utilities field, which includes gas, water and multi-utility companies, with a score of 4.8 out of 5
Naturgy has been recognised by the FTSE4GOOD Index as the most sustainable company in the Utilities supersector, which brings together gas, water and multi-utility companies. This index, which is part of the FTSE Global Equity Index, is recognised worldwide and analyses more than 2,000 companies and evaluates more than 300 environmental, social and corporate governance indicators.
The company’s overall score rose from 4.3 in the last assessment in 2017 to 4.8 in June 2018, with 5 being the highest possible score. The areas rated highest were climate change, biodiversity, labour standards, health and safety, human rights, risk management, anti-corruption, corporate governance and fiscal transparency.
“This result serves as recognition of the company’s commitment to sustainability and reinforces Naturgy’s operational and management excellence. In that sense, the company plans to go further in these lines of work within the framework of its 2018-2022 Strategic Plan, which it recently presented in London”, explained Jordi Garcia Tabernero, Managing Director of Communication and Institutional Relations at Naturgy. “The entire company is involved in implementing good practices in sustainability, corporate management and social awareness”, he added.
