Discover the company’s Environmental Footprint by interacting with our infographic

The Environmental Footprint is a measurement of the environmental impact generated by a product or service throughout its life cycle, enabling the company’s environmental performance and its evolution over time to be assessed so that the actions required to reduce the company’s environmental impact and improve its environmental management can be planned. At Naturgy, we calculate our Environmental footprint every year.

In order to reduce the impact of our products and services (direct environmental footprint), we calculate the Environmental Footprint of the whole company year after year using a calculation tool we call environmental units (UMAS). These are based on life cycle analyses and follow the stages set out in the ISO 14040 international standards.

This method quantifies the various components of the overall footprint:

 The water consumption footprint
 The climate change footprint
 The resources footprint
 The atmospheric footprint
 The waste footprint
 The biodiversity footprint
The environmental footprint calculation enables the company’s environmental performance and its evolution over time to be calculated so that the actions required to reduce its environmental impact and improve its environmental management can be planned. It begins with a characterisation of the environmental aspect quantified according to certain impact categories:

 Acidification
 Toxicological impact on the air
 Winter or photochemical smog
 Waste generation
 Global warming
 Aquatic ecotoxicity
 Consumption of energy, water
 and other resources
 Energy consumption, among others
