Naturgy reinforces its ethical commitment by renewing its criminal compliance and anti-bribery certifications with Bureau Veritas

  • The audit process to obtain the certifications verified employees’ high level of knowledge regarding regulatory compliance and the energy company’s efficient control systems.
  • These Bureau Veritas certifications ratify Naturgy’s commitment to a corporate culture based on transparency and ethics.

Naturgy has taken yet another step forward in its commitment to integrity and best corporate governance practices by renewing the UNE 19601 – Criminal Compliance Management System and ISO 37001 – Anti-Bribery Management System certifications awarded by Bureau Veritas. The energy company has held these certifications continuously since 2019.

They accredit the robust systems that the company has in place to prevent criminal risks and bribery practices, reinforcing its culture of transparency and business ethics in all its operations. UNE 19601 is the benchmark standard in Spain for the implementation of criminal compliance models, while ISO 37001 establishes international anti-bribery standards.

The certifications were presented to Isabel González, Naturgy’s Compliance Officer, by Rafael Andrioli, Sales & Marketing Iberia Director at Bureau Veritas, and David Gómez, Central Zone Business Development Manager at Bureau Veritas.

A firm commitment to integrity

Obtaining these certifications is part of Naturgy’s global strategy to ensure regulatory compliance and corporate responsibility. The company has developed policies and procedures to identify, assess and mitigate risks and promote a culture of integrity among employees, suppliers and partners.

“This external recognition endorses our efforts to maintain the highest ethical and regulatory compliance standards”, said Isabel González, who stressed that “at Naturgy we work to make integrity a cross-cutting value throughout the organisation and in our relationship with stakeholders”.

“Bureau Veritas is proud to support Naturgy as an organisation that understands compliance as a strategic element of its business.  During the audit process, we verified the high level of knowledge of its teams and the robustness of the company’s internal controls, which positions Naturgy as a benchmark in the energy sector”, said Rafael Andrioli during the presentation of the certifications.

Certification process and scope

To obtain these certifications, Naturgy has undergone an exhaustive audit process to evaluate the effectiveness of its management systems, the training given to its teams and the implementation of internal controls. These systems include reporting channels, risk analysis, action protocols and continuous monitoring mechanisms.

With this achievement, Naturgy consolidates its position as a benchmark in the energy sector in terms of compliance and good corporate practices, aligning itself with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and international recommendations on governance. The company thus reaffirms its commitment to transparency, ethics and sustainability as fundamental pillars of its business strategy.
