Nedgia, the Naturgy Group gas distributor, will repair or replace gas installations and equipment (boilers, heaters, etc.) and financially support the replacement of electrical appliances (washing machine and refrigerator) of its customers in the areas most affected by the torrential rains of last week. Installations will also be checked free of charge to ensure their safety. This measure will have a potential impact on approximately 25,000 homes and businesses in the Valencia Region. The estimated aid amounts to 15 million euros.
Francisco Reynés, Chairman of Naturgy, said, “We are always there for our customers, as we have done on previous occasions, and recently during the pandemic. We know that nothing can completely alleviate the pain of those affected by this tragedy, but we are at the disposal of our customers to help them to the best of our ability to restore their homes to a habitable condition. We are aware of our social responsibility as providers of an essential service and want to contribute to the recovery of the affected areas”.
This new initiative can now be managed through Nedgia’s Customer Service channels (www.nedgia.es). Also by calling 900408080 and at information points that will be deployed in the area, such as those already set up in Benetusser (Camí Nou, 36) and Catarroja (Church of San Antonio).
Other initiatives to help those affected
Naturgy announced last week that it will allow deferral of all electricity, gas and energy bills for households, SMEs and the self-employed in the affected areas. Deferral can be requested directly from Customer Services and by calling 900100251. In addition, the company has already activated a programme to prioritise and advance payments to all its suppliers in the Valencia Region and other affected areas.
On the other hand, the Naturgy Foundation has made a financial donation for those affected, which will be channelled through the Red Cross and Caritas. The company also provides its employees with ways in which they can supplement it with individual donations. To accommodate people whose homes have been destroyed, Naturgy has offered both the authorities of the most affected areas and the Red Cross and Caritas the use of group employee residences in the province of Cuenca.
With regard to energy supply, Naturgy has reinforced its presence on the ground through its subsidiary Nedgia, sending more than 200 personnel from other autonomous communities who are already checking the state of gas pipelines whenever possible, always in coordination with the emergency services and under the premise of the safety of customers and employees.
Power supply has already being restored in the areas where the company’s teams have been able to gain access. Current supply interruptions are due to the requirements of the emergency services, with controlled outages in order to be able to access the sites in complete safety. All customer service channels have also been reinforced, including information points set up in areas where this option has been viable.
